The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) of Davao City has reported significant success with its Online Cedula Application Platform, which has processed over 70,000 applications since its launch in May 2023. This online system has made it easier for Dabawenyos to apply for cedulas (community tax certificates) without the need to visit government offices, offering a more convenient and efficient option for residents.
The platform initially processed 402 applications in the second half of 2023. However, its popularity skyrocketed in 2024, with 20,106 applications recorded. As of March 2025, the platform has already processed an impressive 50,047 applications—a clear indicator of its growing use among the public.
The City Treasurer’s Office credits the system’s success to effective information dissemination by the City Government of Davao, particularly through social media campaigns and informational materials that have helped residents understand how to use the system.
For those without internet access, the CTO has set up two kiosks at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Building lobby, offering an alternative means for individuals to access the service and apply for their cedula online. This initiative is part of Davao City’s broader efforts to modernize public services and make them more accessible to residents.
The Online Cedula Application System was developed in collaboration with the City Information Technology Center and aligns with the city’s ongoing commitment to improving the efficiency and accessibility of public services.
