The Davao City Government remains committed to providing free and quality medicines to its residents through 14 Botika ng Bayan (BNB) outlets located in district health offices and designated areas. These pharmacies cater to both public and private prescriptions, offering essential medicines such as maintenance drugs, antibiotics, and vitamins.
According to Botika ng Bayan Head Gemma Pujanes, the initiative ensures better medicine management as all BNB branches are manned by pharmacists, reducing wastage and improving efficiency. Patients can avail of a one-month supply for maintenance medications and a full-dose for antibiotics to prevent antimicrobial resistance. BNB outlets also exchange stocks among health centers to manage expiring medicines effectively.
Residents can access free medicines by presenting an updated prescription, the patient’s ID, or a family member’s ID for claims. The Botika ng Bayan outlets operate Monday to Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Pujanes urged Dabawenyos to take advantage of this privilege, emphasizing that not all areas in the Philippines offer the same service.
