ASP Davao brings Angels Walk for Autism 2025 to SM City Davao in Support of Autism Inclusion

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month, SM City Davao proudly joined the ASP Angels Walk for Autism 2025, a nationwide initiative led by the Autism Society Philippines (ASP) in partnership with SM Cares, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of SM Supermalls.

Held on April 13, the local walk at SM City Davao brought together over 2,000 individuals on the autism spectrum, their families, caregivers, advocates, and community allies for a day of solidarity, awareness, and empowerment.

As a symbol of hope, unity and support for the autism community, this year’s ASP Angels Walk for Autism celebrates the vibrance and contributions of neurodiverse individuals, reinforcing the importance of acceptance, understanding, and inclusive communities.

Participants enjoyed performances, resource exhibits, and photo booth installation, all designed to foster empathy and spark conversations about neurodiversity and inclusion. JCI Davao also launched booklet “Autismbilities: A Spectrum of Possibilities.”

“Through ASP Angels Walk for Autism, we at SM City Davao reaffirm our commitment to making our mall a space where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and empowered,” said Leah P. Delarmente, Mall Manager of SM City Davao

“It’s heartening to see the community come together for a shared purpose of love and acceptance. And we are even more encouraged as we see more and more malls and participants joining the growing movement,” Delarmente added.

Uswaldo Parreñas, president of ASP Davao, shared that they started as a small group when they first mounted the Angels’ Walk. Now with the increasing number of participants, he noted that the large record of attendance showed strong support of the community.

“It is not just a walk. It is a walk of acceptance. It is a walk of belongingness,” Parreñas said.

SM Cares continues to support ASP as they continue to work together year-round to promote inclusive programs and raise awareness on autism. Events like ASP Angels Walk for Autism help pave the way for a more compassionate and inclusive Philippines, one step at a time.
