On March 22, SM Lanang took part in the global Earth Hour 2025 movement, with around 300 shoppers, youth advocates, and Boy Scouts joining the initiative to switch off non-essential lights for one hour. Held at the North Wing Grounds, the event was a powerful statement in solidarity with millions of environmental advocates globally, working to combat climate change and promote sustainable practices.

From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, SM Lanang turned off non-essential lighting across its premises, contributing to a global effort led by the Davao City Youth for Green Environment and Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Davao City Council.

The event was a part of SM Supermalls’ commitment to environmental sustainability. Across 87 SM Supermalls nationwide, the one-hour switch-off saved a significant amount of energy—equivalent to charging 319,759 smartphones or recycling 1.4 tons of waste.

SM Lanang’s dedication to sustainability goes beyond Earth Hour. The mall is a strong advocate for responsible waste management and environmental stewardship through its ongoing Trash to Cash recycling market, held every first Friday and Saturday of the month. This program allows individuals to exchange recyclable waste for cash, contributing to both environmental and community welfare.

Part of SM Supermalls’ Waste-Free Future campaign, Trash to Cash has been running since 2007. In 2024 alone, the program successfully collected more than 12 million kilograms of recyclables, generating over P28 million for participants.
