The Google Gemini app is taking AI-powered assistance to the next level with the introduction of several exciting new features, including Deep Research and the experimental 2.0 Flash Thinking model. These updates aim to enhance productivity and provide a more intuitive, integrated experience for users.
Launched in December 2024, Gemini 2.0 Flash introduces multimodal inputs and outputs, enabling the app to generate native images from text and produce customizable text-to-speech multilingual audio, making it even more versatile. Users can now benefit from improved reasoning abilities, a 1-million token context window for Gemini Advanced users, and integrations with popular Google apps such as Notes, Tasks, Photos, and Calendar.
One standout feature is the app’s ability to manage complex tasks that typically require multiple apps. For example, Google Gemini 2.0 Flash can now seamlessly tackle complicated queries, streamlining the process across different services.
Another key improvement is the Deep Research model, which collects and compiles data to generate comprehensive reports, making research and information gathering faster and more efficient.
Additionally, the Google Gemini app now lets users create custom AI agents called Gems or choose from premade ones. Users can easily access the Gems Manager on the desktop, set instructions, give them a name, and interact with their AI agent anytime. You can also upload files as references to your custom Gem, enhancing its performance and responsiveness.
Looking ahead, Google Gemini will soon integrate with Google Photos, allowing users to interact with their photos in a more intelligent way. For example, users will be able to ask the AI model to show pictures from a recent trip, and it will generate a custom travel plan based on the locations in those images.
With these new capabilities, Google Gemini is positioning itself as an increasingly powerful tool for productivity, research, and personal assistance, bringing together multiple features into one seamless experience.
